FAQ

1. What is HVAC ?

2. What is difference between HVAC and AC ?

In the air conditioning industry, the term HVAC is often used instead of AC. HVAC refers to heating, ventilation and air conditioning, whereas AC simply refers to air conditioning. AC is generally used when referring to systems that are designed to cool the air in your home.

3. What is an Inverter AC ?

An inverter air conditioner unit has a variable -frequency censor to control the speed of the motor which in fact regulates the refrigerant flow inside the unit to provide just the right amount of cooling or heating as needed. This eliminates the frequent start-stop cycles thereby increasing energy efficiency of the unit on a long run.

4. What is the electrical consumption of an air conditioner per month ?

Estimated electrical consumption = input (kw) x no. of hours used x no. of days per month x current utility rate.

5. How can I increase the efficiency and life of my home’s cooling systems ?

A few quick tips:

Clean and replace your filters frequently.

Your system will cool more evenly when the blower is in the “on” position. The blower provides constant air movement throughout the home, and allows for better filtration. Install shades, drapes, shutters, or screens on windows that are exposed to extreme sunlight to keep room temperatures at moderate levels.

6. Should I go for a split unit or a window unit ?

A split AC makes for better aesthetics and is quieter compared to a window AC. Also, in most cases, split units are more energy efficient.

7. What is the ideal location for installing a Window AC ?

The Window AC should be installed at a height of 5 feet behind the user. The air draft from the air-conditioned should not hit the user directly.

8. Why the Air conditioner makes a cracking sound ?

Plastic parts such as the front panel produce a crackling sound when they expand or contract slightly due to temperature change.

9. Why is there frost on my air-conditioner ?

This could happen when the filter is dirty. Clean the filters and see if that makes a difference. If not, maybe it’s time for a service.

10. How often should the filters be cleaned ?

Filter cleaning depends on the frequency of usage and the atmospheric conditions. For normal applications, it is recommended to clean the filter once in 15 days. Also, the AC should be serviced once in 3-4 months for optimal performance and longer life of the machine.

11. Can I use perfumes with my air-conditioned ?

While perfumes do create a good atmosphere, they should be used cautiously as some people can be allergic to them. The best way to keep the foul smell out is to open windows and use fans to bring in a lot of fresh air before the AC is started. Keeping the AC room clean is also equally important.

12. Why there is a bad smell coming from the air-conditioner ?

That’s not normal. Have the machine looked at by a professional technician.

13. Why is my new air-conditioner noisy ?

It may still have an anti-vibration cup attached. Ask your dealer if they removed it. If not, ask them for a service. If you can’t contact the installer, we can help you.

14. What does it mean when the red light of the split-type unit is ON ?

It means the unit is functioning properly.

15. Why is the wall clammy when my air-conditioner is off ?

When your air-conditioner is on all night in humid weather, the indoor humidity gets very low and indoor wall surfaces cool down. If you open the windows immediately after you turn off the air-conditioner, moisture enters the room and condenses on the wall. Let the room warm up slowly before opening windows and doors to prevent this.
